How does transportation work, and where will I be picked up?

When transportation is part of your plan, our driver picks you up at San Diego International Airport or at an agreed meeting point in the San Diego area, such as a parking lot near the airport, your hotel or, in some cases, your home if you live near the airport.

The driver takes you across the border to our facilities in Tijuana, between the clinic and your hotel during your stay, and back to the San Diego area after your discharge. On your arrival day, plan to be ready for pick-up in the morning, usually between 8:00 am and 10:30 am PST; your advisor confirms the exact time. About a week before your trip, we send you the driver's name, photo, car information and meeting instructions, and the driver contacts you to introduce themselves.

Transportation is one of the details that makes a medical trip to Tijuana simple. You do not need to drive, cross the border on your own or find your way around the city. This guide explains how pick-up works, where you can meet the driver, how the return crossing works and what to do if your plans change.

What is included

Round ground transportation from the San Diego airport area to our facilities and back is included in most of our treatment plans. During your visit, the driver takes you:

  • On arrival day: from the San Diego airport or your meeting point to the clinic for your tests and consultation, and then to your hotel.
  • On treatment day: from your hotel to the clinic.
  • On discharge day: from the clinic back to the San Diego airport or your meeting point.

If you travel with a companion, transportation covers your companion as well.

Where you can be picked up

San Diego International Airport

This is the most common option for patients who fly in. Your advisor tells you exactly where to meet the driver after you collect your luggage. Send your advisor a screenshot of your flight itinerary, so the team can verify your arrival and departure times and coordinate the pick-up.

A parking lot near the airport

Patients who drive to San Diego can leave their car in a parking lot near the airport. Your advisor sends you recommended parking options, and once you choose one, the team coordinates the pick-up at that location.

Your hotel in San Diego

If you arrive the day before and stay in San Diego, the driver can pick you up at your hotel, when it is within the service area.

Your home

If you live near the San Diego airport area, our team can, in some cases, pick you up at home and take you back once your treatment is complete.

What time should I be ready?

On your arrival day, plan to be ready in the morning, usually between 8:00 am and 10:30 am PST. Arriving early has two advantages:

  • Shorter fasting: you need to arrive fasting for your blood tests, and an early arrival keeps the fasting period reasonable.
  • A relaxed schedule: your tests, medical forms, payment and consultation can be completed during the day, so you can rest at your hotel in the afternoon.

If your flight arrives later, tell your advisor. The team will adjust the pick-up time and tell you when to have your last meal.

Before your trip

About a week before your treatment, your advisor sends you:

  • Your driver's name and contact information.
  • A photo of the driver and the car information, so you can identify them easily.
  • The exact meeting point and time.

The driver will also contact you to introduce themselves and give you more details about your pick-up.

We also ask for:

  • A copy of your passport or ID, used only for transportation coordination and patient identification. If you prefer, you may partially cover the passport number, as long as your full name and photo remain visible.
  • Your flight itinerary, to coordinate your arrival and departure.

Crossing the border

Going into Mexico

Crossing into Mexico is usually quick. Our drivers cross the border every day and know the process.

Returning to the United States

When transportation is part of your plan, your return includes a medical pass, which allows you to use the medical line to cross back into the United States faster. If you have SENTRI or Global Entry, bring your card, since these programs also expedite your return.

We recommend booking your return flight between 5:00 pm and 11:00 pm on your discharge day, so you have time for your final check, can use the medical pass and avoid border traffic.

Your transfers, day by day

DayTransfer
Arrival day, morningSan Diego airport or meeting point to the clinic in Tijuana
Arrival day, afternoonClinic to your hotel, after your tests and consultation
Treatment day, morningHotel to the clinic for your procedure and overnight stay
Discharge dayClinic to the San Diego airport or your meeting point, with the medical pass

If your plan includes more than one treatment day or additional nights, the team adds the transfers you need.

Accessibility and special needs

Tell your advisor in advance if you use a wheelchair, walker or cane, need help with luggage, or travel with a child who needs a car seat. The team coordinates the right vehicle and assistance. For example, when a family traveled with a small child, the team asked in advance about the car seat to make sure the transfers were safe and comfortable.

Comfort tips for the ride

  • Keep your documents at hand, especially your passport or the documents you will use to return to the United States.
  • Carry water, since you will be fasting on arrival day.
  • Keep your phone charged and save the driver's and advisor's numbers.
  • After your procedure, sit in a comfortable position and support the treated area with a pillow if needed.

If you prefer not to use our transportation

If you live nearby, have someone to drive you or prefer to arrange your own transportation, your advisor can update your quote without our transportation service. In that case:

  • There is underground parking at Torres Plaza Agua Caliente, where our clinic is located.
  • When you arrive at the lobby, contact our front desk, and a coordinator will guide you to our offices.
  • Remember that you should not drive yourself after sedation, and that you need to plan your own return crossing.

If your plans change

  • Flight delayed: tell your advisor as soon as you know. The team adjusts the pick-up time and, if needed, your schedule.
  • Change of meeting point: let your advisor know in advance so the driver can be informed.
  • Extra hotel nights: if you extend your stay, the team can coordinate additional transfers.

Events and traffic

Our team monitors traffic and local events. When an event in the city increased security and traffic around a hotel, for example, we informed our patients in advance about possible delays during check-in and pick-up. If something could affect your transfers, your advisor will let you know.

Common questions

Is transportation included in my plan? In most plans, yes. Your written plan lists everything included.

Can my companion ride with me? Yes. Transportation covers your companion as well.

Can the driver take me to a pharmacy or a restaurant? Ask your advisor. The team will tell you what is possible during your stay.

What if I cannot find the driver? Call or message the driver or your advisor using the contact information we send you before the trip.

Do I need Mexican pesos? Not for transportation; U.S. dollars are widely accepted in the area. Your plan covers the transfers included.

How long is the drive from the airport to the clinic? It depends on traffic at the border crossing. Your advisor recommends a pick-up time that leaves enough margin for your schedule.

Questions to ask your advisor

  • Where exactly will the driver meet me?
  • What time should I be ready on my arrival day?
  • Can I leave my car at a parking lot near the airport?
  • How does the medical pass work for my return?

Bottom line

Our drivers pick you up at San Diego International Airport or at an agreed meeting point in the San Diego area, take you to the clinic and your hotel during your stay, and bring you back after your discharge, with a medical pass for a faster return crossing. You receive your driver's details about a week before your trip. A medical evaluation can help determine whether this type of regenerative treatment is appropriate for your condition, goals and medical history.
